Linda heeft de tweede Inklingo ‘mysteriequilt’ (achterstevoren deze keer) alweer gepresenteerd, maar ik besteed hier nog wat aandacht aan de vorige.

Ruth van Sewlmatesister vroeg mij om in EQ7 wat randen te bedenken voor Inklingo’s eerste mysteriequilt, ‘The Case of the Secret Garden’, (COTSG), dus ik speel vandaag even voor ‘randfiguur’ ;-)

Linda Franz heeft de COTSG-quilt ontworpen met haar 6 inch [15.2 cm.] Inklingo New York Wheel collectie patroondelen. New York Wheel is een variatie op het New York Beauty blok, maar dan met ‘spaken’ in plaats van punten.

Zonder randen (plaatje helemaal bovenaan) meet hij 48 inch vierkant [122 cm.]. Je kunt hem afwerken tot een wandkleed, maar je kunt hem natuurlijk ook wat groter maken met extra blokken en/of randen.

Ik laat in deze post verschillende opties zien. Daarbij heb ik me beperkt tot de NY Wheel collectie, en geen patroondelen uit andere collecties geïntroduceerd.

De smalle randen in de geprinte stof zijn bedoeld als dezelfde breedte als delen uit de NY Wheel blokken in dezelfde stof, voor een harmonieus resultaat.

De breedte is een benadering, want ik had geen patroondelen bij de hand om na te meten. Dat moet je dus zelf even doen als je zulke randen wilt toevoegen.

De buitenste bies heb ik een halve inch [1.3 cm.] getekend, maar dat doe je natuurlijk ook gewoon naar eigen smaak. De totaalafmetingen die ik geef zijn daarom een benadering.

Linda has already presented the second Inklingo ‘mystery’ quilt (a ‘reversed mystery’ this time), but I am still doing a post on the previous one.

Ruth of Sewlmatesister asked me to come up with some borders in EQ7, for Inklingo’s first mystery quilt, ‘The Case of the Secret Garden’ (COTSG).

Linda Franz designed the COTSG quilt with her 6 inch [15.2 cm.] New York Wheel Shape collection. New York Wheel is a variation of the New York Beauty block, with spokes instead of spikes.

As is (see the picture at the complete top of this post), the quilt top measures 48 inches square [ca. 122 cm.]. You can finish it into a wall hanging, but of course you can also make it a bit bigger, with more blocks and/or borders.

I am showing you a few options here. I have limited myself to the NY Wheel collection, so no shapes from other collections are introduced.

The narrow border strips are meant to be the same size as parts in the NY Wheel blocks in the same fabric, for a harmonious result.

The measurements are not exact, because I did not have printed shapes handy to measure. So if you want to use borders like these, you will have to do the measuring yourself.

I have made the ‘binding’ a half inch, but of course you will use a binding of your preferred width. This means the total dimensions I give with each design are an approximation.
