Autoborder eromheen, strikjes erop, klaar is kees! (1&2) add on cd.
Here is a short reminder for my Dutch Quilting magazine give-away.
To my surprise, none of my Dutch/Belgian readers has left a comment (yet). Maybe all of them already have this magazine? In any case, you still have until Tuesday 4 October, midnight, (CET) to enter if you have not already done so.
Another thing, maybe you noticed I have a different header image on Stof Genoeg. It is a temporary header in which I colored ‘Stof Genoeg’ with pink ribbon fabrics. I had this header on my blog in October last year, so the fabrics are not new.
The picture at the complete top of this post is a Pink Ribbon Quilt I designed especially for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year there was a case of breast cancer in my family (surgery and radiation are completed, she is on the mend now), so that is why I am paying more attention to this month than before.
I designed the quilt with blocks from the EQ Libraries. I only made the medallion myself, by turning a stencil (Ribbon Vine) into a block. (In your Sketchbook, just move or copy the stencil from the Stencil Tab to the Block Tab). After that I colored the block, replaced the flower with two hearts, and next I turned it into a wreath with the Wreathmaker Tool. That is really easy, and always produces lovely results.
I started this design by searching the Block Libraries for blocks (and stencils and motifs) with ‘ribbon’ in the name. I used the ones I liked best, and put them in a horizontal layout. I colored it really pink. Added an Autoborder (curved), bows on top, et voilà!
At the start of the English part of this post you find another version, less pink. This one has a border of ‘Ribbon Heart’ blocks from the Sew Precise! (1&2) add on cd.
You can download the EQ7 project with the pink quilt. I can’t share the Sew Precise! blocks with you because of copyright, so that version of this quilt is not in the download. As mentioned before, there aren’t any really original blocks in this project. But if you like the design and download the project, I hope you will make a donation for breast cancer prevention, or do something to support breast cancer patients. There is a lot of attention for these things this month, so I am sure you will see an opportunity.
See you on Wednesday! (result of the give-away) XXX Anneke
